Under his Imamat, the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) expanded education, healthcare, and economic initiatives across continents, consistently emphasizing dignity, empowerment, and social cohesion. The late Imam demonstrated that ethical principles are most meaningful when translated into real opportunities for human flourishing. Furthermore, in his first year of Imamat, Aga Khan V embarked on extensive Takhtnashini visits, personally engaging with communities worldwide. These visits fostered youth engagement, interfaith dialogue, and grassroots participation in humanitarian efforts, highlighting his commitment to connection, empowerment, and ethical responsibility. Similarly, in Pakistan and Gilgit‑Baltistan, Aga Khan V has championed critical development programs. Through AKDN’s longstanding presence, institutions have supported quality education, health services, vocational training, and youth development. The Aga Khan Education Service (AKES) Pakistan operates 154 schools across Sindh, Gilgit‑Baltistan, Chitral, and Punjab, providing educational access to tens of thousands of students while emphasizing gender equity and community participation (Aga Khan Education Service [AKES], n.d.). Health initiatives led by Aga Khan Health Services (AKHS) provide comprehensive care to millions, from community clinics to tertiary hospitals, reflecting an integrated approach to life-long health and well-being (Aga Khan Health Services [AKHS], n.d.).

In addition to local efforts, Aga Khan V has advocated for humanitarian action, cultural understanding, and sustainable development on a global scale. In March 2025, he pledged €100 million on behalf of the Ismaili Imamat and AKDN to support Syria’s development and humanitarian needs, signaling a strong commitment to recovery, peace, and resilience in conflict-affected regions (Aga Khan Development Network, 2025).

Moreover, his engagement with international partners has strengthened institutional collaboration. In the United Kingdom, diplomatic and development partnerships have been renewed to address shared priorities, including climate change, education, and economic empowerment. Institutions at the Aga Khan Centre in London, such as the Institute of Ismaili Studies (IIS), serve as hubs for academic research, cultural dialogue, and pluralistic inquiry, fostering understanding across societies and faiths (Institute of Ismaili Studies, n.d.).

On the occasion of the first anniversary of his Imamat, His Majesty King Charles III hosted Aga Khan V at Windsor Castle in a formal dinner, reflecting the longstanding ties between the Ismaili Imamat and the United Kingdom. The event celebrated collaboration in education, welfare, and global development, highlighting the Imamat’s role in international partnerships for the common good (Yahoo News UK, 2026).

Furthermore, Aga Khan V has participated in major international forums, emphasizing that spiritual leadership can influence global policy on ethical governance, equitable development, and climate resilience. His contributions illustrate the growing intersection of faith-inspired values with global responsibility.
